Deconstruction of CD Covers
The CD cover above is from the band Saving Aimee, the font used is that of its normal band name title and this makes the band more noticeable. The color scheme used is a variety of blues and black and white, this color scheme ties in with the genre of the band, as they are a mix between rock, pop and indie. The various different images shown on the left side of the cover are images of the band members in various different poses, these also tie in with the genre as they are pictured with guitars, synths and pulling a stereotypical rock pose.
Above is the CD cover for the band Hey Monday; this band also falls into the category of pop/rock. The CD cover is fairly basic but as before the color scheme used is a variety of white, blue and pink, the pink in the title represents that’s the lead singer is a girl. Although the cover is basic it works really well with the title being centered, the patches of some liquid stretching across the cover goes really well with the notebook background. The conventions of this typical genre band are thought of greatly in this cover as the color scheme and font is aimed at the younger generation.
All Time Low’s songs falls into this category of pop/punk again, the album shown above has a bright color scheme of yellows and bright blues, the black silhouette’s in the background show what seems like two girls jumping in the air, the color scheme used suggests that it could possibly be summer time which leads me to think that it could be a lake or pool they are jumping in. In the background are small birds flying up into the sky this again backs up the lake theory as it is obviously outdoors.
3OH!3 are a fairly new band to the pop/punk genre, there wacky and crazy songs tie in with the bands overall image and attitude. Their second album Want, shown above, is fairly basic in what it is made up of but is very effective. The bands name is placed in the centre at the top in its standard font, whereas the albums name is in the middle with a two tone color effect of purple and light blue, joined onto the bottom of the album name is a bunch of hands forming and O with there fingers. This crazy design makes little sense and ties in with the bands wacky anticks.
